FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

"MUHLENBERG" is Going Places

POWDERLY, Ky – The Muhlenberg County Tourism Commission was pleased to announce and cut the ribbon on its latest project, the MUHLENBERG sign, this past Friday, July 9th at Central City’s Rods & Ribs Festival. The MUHLENBERG sign is a 24’ long, over 7’ high mobile sign that will travel Muhlenberg County for years to come and serve as a photo-op and promotional tool for the community.

The sign was built locally by lifelong Muhlenberg businessman, Forest Deason. Forest and his late wife Theda owned and operated a sign shop for over thirty years. During this time, they were always lending a hand and volunteering their time and talents to the community for various projects. Deason graciously donated all his labor to this project in honor of his late wife, Theda, and to all those in Muhlenberg County that COVID has affected. Forest had an incredible team of volunteers that also donated countless hours to the project. Those volunteers include Brenda Brewer, Carla Brewer, Clarence Brewer, Clint Brewer, Ellis Randolph, Ricky Hafley, Mike Hafley, Kenny Lindsey, Misty Deason, Brewco Saw, Jamie Wells and Lucretia Kittinger. “Forrest and the team of volunteers did an amazing job on this project, that will serve Muhlenberg for years to come,” said Mary Kate Kordes, Muhlenberg County Tourism Chairperson. Mrs. Kordes went on to say, “we are so excited to bring MUHLENBERG to life as never before and provide a fun photo-op for community events.”

The sign is mobile and will be traveling throughout the county, making appearances at all types of events and locations! Look for it at the next event you attend and have your picture made! Be sure to post it to social media with the hashtags #visitmuhlenberg and #muhlenbergsign. Follow the Muhlenberg County Tourism Commission on Facebook and Instagram to see where it’s going next!
